Do I need a kiln?Updated 14 days ago

No, you don't need a kiln. Our kits use air-dry clay, which means your piece dries completely on its own at room temperature - no heat or special equipment needed.

Once you're done sculpting, leave your piece in a well-ventilated area to dry. Depending on the size and thickness of your piece, this usually takes around 2 to 4 days. To get the best results, avoid drying it near a direct heat source and try to keep the thickness of your clay as even as possible throughout your piece.

One thing worth knowing is that air-dry clay pieces are not food-safe. For pottery to be food-safe, it needs to be fired in a kiln under specific conditions using a food-grade glaze. Our kits are designed for decorative pieces rather than those used for eating or drinking.
