Clay is too dry or hard to work withUpdated 14 days ago
If your clay feels stiff or hard when you first open it, this is normal. Clay straight out of the packaging often softens up as you work with it. Start by kneading it with the flat of your palm, pressing it into your work surface and folding it back over itself repeatedly until it becomes more pliable.
If the clay still feels dry after kneading, dampen a sponge and work a small amount of water into the clay as you knead. This should help bring it back to a workable consistency.
Note that this only works if the clay is still gray in colour. If your clay has turned whitish and feels completely dry and hard, it has gone bone-dry and cannot be brought back. If your clay arrived in this condition, please reach out to us using the chat button on this page and we will help you out.
To prevent your clay from drying out between sessions, store any unused clay in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in plastic wrap.
